Guns n’ Roses frontman Axl Rose has surprised fans with a recent performance as the legendary rocker shows he still has what it takes, with viewers praising the ‘Paradise City’ songwriter
Fans of the legendary rock band Guns n’ Roses could not believe how Axl Rose sounds now. The band behind hits like ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ and ‘Paradise City’ set off on tour at the start of May, with dates in Asia to be followed with a tour of the UK and the United States.
In their heyday, the band were best known for rock music riffs and a high-pitched vocal style from Rose. The unique voice became one of the band’s best-selling parts, along with veteran guitarist Slash on guitar. But fans have observed a major change in Rose’s voice, which does not appear capable of hitting the roaring highs he did in the 1980s.
Though he may not be able to hit the high notes anymore, fans were pleasantly surprised at the changes he had made to his voice. A clip of Guns n’ Roses’ recent performance was shared to TikTok and has since gone viral.
Footage showed Rose with a very different voice to that of their studio output. The group’s last album release came in 2008, with ‘Chinese Democracy’ hitting number three on the US Billboard charts.
A performance of ‘Nightrain’, from their debut album, Appetite for Destruction, has thrilled fans as they realise the group can still rock the stage. A clip of the group playing a gig in Bangkok, Thailand, has delighted viewers who say Rose has still got what it takes to be one of the best frontmen around.
One user wrote: “Wow he actually sounds decent for a change. Auto tune or is he doing something different?” Another added: “He sounds so good now.”
Fans wondering what the major change was were in luck as many comments explained the change Rose had made to his voice. It appears the high notes may be out of reach now for the 63-year-old, but the new vocal range is delighting listeners.
One fan shared: “He should keep this kind of voice through all the concert.” Another added: “Should keep singing lower he sounds great, the high notes are a hard listen now.”
Another added: “He should perform with this deep voice for ALL of their live songs. He sounds great, and it’s not like it wouldn’t suit their other songs.
