Brad Marchand pulled the soft serve handle over everyone’s eyes.
The Panthers forward was captured eating with a spoon during the intermission of Florida’s 6-2 win against the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night. Marchand was asked after the game if it was a Dairy Queen Blizzard, and jokingly responded that’s exactly what it was. The attention gained by Marchand’s fib, however, prompted the veteran to clear the air and confirm it was not, in fact, a chocolate chip cookie dough Blizzard.
“I was making a joke compared to our excursion from a couple nights before,” Marchand told The Athletic’s Michael Russo. “I think people took it seriously. The amount of messages I got about people going to Dairy Queen (on Sunday) — and I appreciate the support; I love a good Blizzard more than anybody — but it’s not something I’ve had in the middle of the game.”
Instead, the former Bruins captain was eating honey — or at least that’s what he’s saying.
“It was something healthy,” Marchand told Russo. “It was honey. I was having honey. It was a spoonful of honey. Because I’m a bear. I’ve always loved honey. Actually, when I was growing up, I loved Winnie the Pooh, so I used to have a Winnie the Pooh bear and I would feed the bear honey.”

Marchand, a free agent this offseason, might garner a few endorsement deals along with a new contract.
